I am just going to come out and say this directly because there really is no other way: your iced tea sucks. It's basically cold tea and ice.
For the love of God people, what part of "iced" and "tea" do you not get? (The the sickly sweet, high viscosity, artificial lemon flavour, with zero percent tea content, like we drink it in Canada, is implied.)

I'm an American and you're absolutely right. Our iced tea sucks. The only way you could possibly drink it is quickly.

Thank you for owning up to it! I cannot drink it at all. I think I did a spit take the first time I had it. Try the Canadian powdery stuff--it's delish!

Okay, here's how you can try it: Make yourself a big pot of tea. Drink your tea and then leave the remainder in the pot, with the knarly old tea bags. Pop the pot in the fridge for several hours. Then when you are thirsty, get the pot out and pour yourself a big old glass of American iced tea.
Oh, and don't forget to charge yourself $2.50 per glass.
I love iced tea! it's refreshing.
That icky sweet stuff is just that. ICKY.
So what about sweet tea? We always made it so that it was tooth-rottingly sweet with a syrup that my mama used to always have on hand. Is that like what your talking about?

I do not know; sweet tea sounds more like it, but I suspect there is too much actual tea flavour in it to qualify as Canadian iced tea. I have never checked for Goodhost brand powered iced tea when I have been to the States, so maybe it's like ketchup or dill pickle flavoured chips and they just don't sell it in the U.S. I honestly don't know.

There is "northern" iced tea, which is unsweetened and "southern" iced tea which is sweetened with sugar syrup. The sweet tea is WAY better, so please don't give up on us completely without trying both. Well, if you do give up on us completely, let it be for reasons other than the tea.
No No No.... you let the bags sit in the pot for DAYS! DAYS my friend. NO SUGAR. LOTS OF ICE. It it makes you feel like you have lockjaw, you've made it correctly.

Well, from what I know of you, you appear to be a woman of exquisite taste so I will take your word for it. However, what you describe, although far superior sounding to that wretched old tea bags with ice concoction, simply lacks the essential "powdery" aspect that is so much a part of our Canadian iced tea. And also a hint o' artificial lemon! And therefore must lose the international iced tea battle.
I could never give up on Americans --NAFTA rules! Truth be told - I like Americans; I like them a lot.

Just because you threw all the good stuff into Boston Harbour does not mean it is *meant* to go in cold water.

I agree that hot tea, properly made, is good. And also with milk and sugar because black it's basically iced tea without the ice and I think we all know how I feel about that. The ice in that iced tea is its only redeeming quality.
But your Boston Harbour comment has set me to a thinkin'...I wonder if it would be better with some salt.
